The Biggest free-flight aviary in the World!
Birds of Eden in Plettenberg Bay is the world’s largest free-flight aviary, offering a breathtaking sanctuary for over 3,500 birds from around the globe. This unique aviary spans a lush indigenous forest, allowing birds to live in a natural environment while providing visitors with an immersive experience. As a key conservation project, Birds of Eden rescues and rehabilitates previously captive birds, giving them a second chance at freedom. For photographers, it’s a paradise—vibrant plumage, dynamic flight, and serene forest backdrops create endless opportunities to capture the beauty and spirit of these incredible creatures.
Birds of Eden’s unique two hectare dome (the world’s largest) spans over a gorge of indigenous forest. Currently it is home to over 3,500 birds from over 220 species, with the main focus being African birds.
